Young Yuji never got his war, so he built one out of sake cups and bad decisions, and it caught up with him hard the night he drank Legless Tom under the table at the Degen Dojo and woke up face down with his reputation somewhere on the floor next to the empty bottles. He remembers being seventeen forever, remembers a glory that packed its bags and left before he ever swung a real blade in anger, and every reckless night since has been him running to catch a train that already pulled out of the station. So he told himself, loud enough for the whole dojo to hear, that he would earn it all back, the respect, the legend, the version of himself that didn't need three hours of sleep and a headful of regret just to feel like a samurai. He started training again the very next dawn, wobbling through his kata with a hangover like a war wound, swearing off drink until sundown, which in Yuji years lasted almost until lunch. Still he keeps swinging that wooden sword like it owes him a war it never gave him, sleepless, stubborn, chasing a glory that keeps one step ahead and laughing.
Collected. Not borrowed. The Foes Teeth fighters carry proof of every fight they've won around their neck and find it a useful conversation starter.
Paper screens at night. The Shoji Night fighters were born in the quiet hours, when the market sleeps and only the committed are still at their screens.
