Diary
Young Yuji was born for a war that packed up and left before his blade ever tasted anything but practice wood, and some nights that absence howls louder than any battlefield ever could. He found The English Pilot holding court in the back room of the pleasure house, pouring sake like it was a sacred rite, and somewhere between the third cup and the fourth degen who wandered in chasing the same warmth Yuji fell in with a crew of gamblers, jokers, and men who'd also missed their glory by a generation. For a few hours it felt like a fellowship worth dying for, laughter and lies stacked high as a floor price nobody remembers anymore, and Yuji, sleepless as ever, decided that if the honor of a real death had passed him by, he'd manufacture one himself. So now he sits sharpening a blade with hands still trembling from cheap liquor, muttering about seppuku like it's the last legendary drop he can still claim, promising himself discipline at dawn while the sun rises on him still awake, still unshaven, still very much alive and very much unable to sit still long enough to finish the ritual he keeps starting.'
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Red moon, heightened stakes. The Red High Moon backgrounds mark the moments when everything was on the line and the fighter stayed.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Named for what it abandoned. The No Honor Kimono fighters gave up on the codes others follow and found that this freed them completely.
Still becoming, and always will be — the wars ended before he got to finish. All promise and no scars, certain his great chapter was over the next hill. The hill turned out to be the last one.
Gold-edged, elevated. The Pompous Glasses fighters have earned the right to look down at something and have chosen to look down at mediocrity.
Elevated tradition. The High Straw Rice Hat fighters dress high above their own heads — everything they do is reaching upward.
A live chicken. As a weapon. The Chicken fighters have committed to an approach that nobody expected and found that unexpectedness is half the battle.
