Diary
They called him Akuma back when the name still meant something, back when men wet themselves at the sound of his sandals on gravel, and he wore it then the way he wears it now, like a blade that never dulls even after peace made it decorative. The old generals had marked him for a legend, a final duel at the foot of Mount Fuji that would have closed the war with his silhouette burned into the sky. Instead he found Igor's dice game at the base camp, and something in him, some devil that outlived the demon he was named for, decided glory could wait one hand. It could not. He watched the moment slip away chip by chip, laughing low and ugly at himself even as the shot at legend walked past him unclaimed, because of course this is what would happen, of course the demon would rob himself. He still climbs that mountain some nights in his head, sits at the empty summit where the duel should have been, and grins with all his teeth at the joke the universe played, knowing full well he was the punchline and the one who wrote it.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Hidden in plain sight. The Night Forest fighters do most of their work in the dark — not secretively, but quietly. They don't need an audience.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The red Oni rages where the blue Oni waits. The Red Oni Tattoo fighters run hot and they are at peace with this.
'Akuma' means devil, a name he didn't choose. The survivors needed a word bigger than soldier for what he did on the field, and it stuck.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Architecture on the scalp. Each knot a decision. The Black Bantu Knots fighters make their choices visible at the top, where everyone can see.
Heavy, ceramic, purpose-built for one thing and used for another. The Giant Sake Bottle fighters are creative about their arsenal.
