Diary
They called him Akuma in the war because men who saw his blade stopped believing in mercy, and he wore that name now like a joke only he understood, grinning behind the scar of it. In some backstreet alley that smelled of sake and regret, the old demon tried on a new mask, helping an elderly woman with her groceries, playing at the gentle ronin he once dreamed he could become. She thanked him, called him a good boy, and something in his blackened chest cracked wide open, the kind of wound no katana ever managed. He has retired from that life now, he says, unable to survive a second heartbreak delivered by someone's grandmother, and instead spends his discipline on ape-ing into worthless tokens at 3am, telling himself it is the same kind of risk that made him legendary. Akuma the merciless, undone not by rival blades but by kindness itself, still tries some mornings to meditate, to breathe, to be still, only to end up doom-scrolling charts and laughing darkly at how far the demon has fallen.
Sober, unlike the drunk variant. The Lizard fighters have a companion with excellent judgment who never asks for anything and always seems to know when to leave.
Lived-in color. The Warm Grey background belongs to fighters who have been through enough that their edges have softened without their core changing.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
No clothing needed. The Shirtless Runt fighters removed every layer between themselves and the fight. Maximum exposure. Maximum honesty.
'Akuma' means devil, a name he didn't choose. The survivors needed a word bigger than soldier for what he did on the field, and it stuck.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
The tiger, bound. The Tiger Headband Ruffian fighters contain something predatory with a strip of cloth and consider this sufficient.
Musical instrument. Strung instrument. The Shamisen fighters understand that performance and violence are not opposites — they are the same act in different registers.
