Diary
They called him Akuma in the war because men who faced him stopped believing in mercy, and he wore that name now like a rusted mask, amused that the demon of legend spends his mornings hungover on the temple steps of Kiyomizu-Dera. It was there, chasing some degenerate whisper about purification rituals and gut biomes, that he drank his own urine straight from a cracked sake cup, convinced it would reset his chi like a floor sweep resets a chart. Instead it rugged him hard, fever and shame arriving together, the monks pretending not to stare at the once feared blade now doubled over near the koi pond. He laughs about it now, low and gravelly, because a demon who cannot best his own bladder has no business threatening anyone else's soul. Still he trains at dawn, disciplined in theory, aping every shortcut to strength he stumbles across, determined to earn back a reputation he keeps quietly, hilariously pissing away.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Bright but not loud. The Teal Daytime fighters are the ones you underestimate because they don't announce their arrival.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Not a garment — a record. The Battle Scars clothing is what's left after everything else was stripped away. These fighters wear their history.
'Akuma' means devil, a name he didn't choose. The survivors needed a word bigger than soldier for what he did on the field, and it stuck.
Fox face. The Kitsune Mask fighters wear the shapeshifter's face — which means every identity is available to them and none is fixed.
Named for sensation. The Splitting Axe Ache fighters' hair is named for how their opponents feel after they're done.
Heavy, ceramic, purpose-built for one thing and used for another. The Giant Sake Bottle fighters are creative about their arsenal.
