Diary
They called him Akuma back in the war, and Akuma he remained, a name he wears like a scar he's proud of, amused that grown men still flinch at the sound of it. At the foot of Mount Fuji he was doing what passed for peace these days, sharing a joint and some half-truths with Edmundo, when a monkey got too curious about his stash and paid for it with a blade through the ribs before anyone could blink. He didn't even flinch, just watched the thing twitch in the snow and muttered something about discipline being wasted on the wildlife, then went back to his conversation like nothing happened. The Dojo elders didn't find it half as funny as he did, and the exile papers came fast, stamped with words like
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The standard-bearer. The Proud Dejen Kimono fighters represent the collection consciously — they know what they're part of and they dress accordingly.
'Akuma' means devil, a name he didn't choose. The survivors needed a word bigger than soldier for what he did on the field, and it stuck.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Ancient discipline, modern retention. The Braided Samurai Ponytail fighters maintain something traditional precisely because the world keeps trying to make them let it go.
Not metaphorical. Someone's leg bone, spiked. The Spiky Femur fighters have been here long enough that the bones of their enemies are now equipment.
