They called him Akuma back when the war still had a shape worth fearing, and he wears the name now the way other men wear scars, like proof he earned the joke before anyone else got to tell it. Under a bridge that smelled of river rot and cheap incense, he made the mistake of talking too long, too loud, too proud, to The Old Dragon, and walked away lighter in ways no sword ever managed, his balls gone before he even finished his sentence. He tells himself it was a fair trade for whatever secret he almost learned, and grins about it in the ring like a man who's already survived the worst rug pull imaginable. His family still thinks he's off meditating in the mountains, floor-planning some warrior's comeback, and he lets them believe it, mailing home vague haikus and the occasional bag of weed to keep the questions soft. Every morning he vows to sit in silence and reclaim the discipline that made him legend, and every morning he ends up laughing under that same bridge instead, daring the world to ask him what's funny.

Named for the legendary swordsman. The Flowing Battousai fighters carry the name of the fastest draw in the collection's lore — and the hair confirms they take this seriously.
