They named him Akuma in the war because men who saw his blade twice did not live to describe it a third time, and he wore that name like armor long after the armor itself was pawned for rice wine and worse habits. Now the demon of old battlefields kneels in the dirt outside some nameless dice ring, savings scattered like spent arrows, surrounded not by soldiers but by grinning degens who smelled blood and floor price in equal measure. He lets them circle him, amused in that quiet, terrible way, because the only thing more dangerous than Akuma with a sword is Akuma who has nothing left to lose. There was a version of him, disciplined and devout, who meditated at dawn and never touched the tiles, but that man died somewhere between the last war and the first bad bet, and Akuma buried him without ceremony. He tells himself, as he always does, that he knows better now, and the dirt beneath his knees laughs along with the degens, because he never learns, not really, just reloads.'
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Unclear until it clears. The Grey Mist backgrounds belong to fighters who operate where others can't see, and use that fog as their advantage.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Still learning. The Student Gi fighters are the most dangerous in the Dojo — they have no habits yet, no fixed patterns, no ceiling.
'Akuma' means devil, a name he didn't choose. The survivors needed a word bigger than soldier for what he did on the field, and it stuck.
Traditional, ornamented. The Shoji Tassel Glasses fighters dress their perception in ceremony — seeing is a ritual for them, not a reflex.
Practical. Focused. The Hair Bun fighters pulled back what was in their eyes so they could see the whole board.
Musical instrument. Strung instrument. The Shamisen fighters understand that performance and violence are not opposites — they are the same act in different registers.
