Diary
They called him Akuma back when the name still meant something, back when men flinched at the mere shape of him crossing a battlefield, and some nights he still enjoys wearing that dread like an old, well fitted armor. On a hot afternoon, sweat pooling in the hollow of his throat, he decided to reclaim a sliver of the old discipline by carving weapons from scrap wood, the way a real swordsman hones his craft between wars. What emerged were lopsided clubs and a katana that curved like a question mark, and somewhere between the third splinter and the fourth cuss word his self-esteem quietly excused itself from the premises. He sat there in the dying light, surrounded by his pitiful wooden arsenal, and felt something unfamiliar bloom in his chest, not shame exactly, more the dark amusement of a demon watching himself fail at being a man. He has never felt better, because a monster who can laugh at his own ruin is a monster nothing in this world can truly break, and that, he decides, is its own kind of discipline.'
Heavy. Deliberate. The Gold Earring fighters wear their conviction in precious metal on the outside so everyone knows before they speak.
Unclear until it clears. The Grey Mist backgrounds belong to fighters who operate where others can't see, and use that fog as their advantage.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Wealth made garment. The Money Kimono fighters wear their wins literally — the fabric is a record, not a boast.
'Akuma' means devil, a name he didn't choose. The survivors needed a word bigger than soldier for what he did on the field, and it stuck.
The world through affection. The Loveheart Shades fighters see everything as worth caring about — and have found this is more effective than the alternative.
The Dojo's samurai. The Dejen Samurai fighters carry the warrior tradition through the collection's own lens — ancient code, contemporary context.
The poisonous pufferfish as a weapon. The Frightened Fugu fighters chose something lethal that looks absurd — and find that this is the most accurate description of themselves.
