They called him Akuma back when villages burned to remember him by, and out in the rice paddies with Botan bleeding into the water he heard the old name rise up like it never left. He remembers weighing the whole idea of honor mid-swing, some half-formed koan about a warrior's soul, right before his fist finished the argument for him. There's a joke in that, he knows it, the demon pausing to philosophize before doing what demons do best. These days he tells himself he's retired, hangs the war up like a coat that doesn't fit anymore, tries to trade the paddies for a quiet mat and some discipline he can point to and say see, changed man. But the floor keeps dropping out from under that story every time someone says his name wrong on purpose just to watch what wakes up.ed.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
