Diary
They called him Akuma back when the war still had rules, a name earned for the quiet way he ended arguments before they finished starting, and he has never once flinched from wearing it since. Up on Misty Mountain, gut full of fish cakes and mouth loose with sake confidence, he made the mistake of running his tongue faster than his sense, mouthing off to men who remembered exactly who he used to be and weren't impressed by the rumor anymore. The mountain answered the way mountains do, with silence and consequence, and Akuma came down changed, humbled in the particular way that only makes a demon more amused at himself. Now he sits cross-legged in some smoke-choked tea house, penning the Degen Handbook chapter by chapter, insisting each rule is discipline reborn even as he ashes weed onto the page and rewrites the same paragraph on restraint for the ninth drunken time. He knows the joke is on him, has always known, and grins the grin of a man who terrified armies and still can't out-argue his own worst instincts.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Between midday and dusk. The Orange Afternoon fighters are in the middle of something — not finished, not starting, exactly where they need to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Sovereignty in fabric form. The Queeny Chic fighters dress with authority that was never granted by anyone else and therefore can't be revoked.
'Akuma' means devil, a name he didn't choose. The survivors needed a word bigger than soldier for what he did on the field, and it stuck.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Broad shade, broad vision. The Wide Kasa Fisherman fighters cover more ground with their hat than most cover with their plans.
Used and not cleaned. The Bloody Nunchucks fighters are efficient — cleaning was someone else's job and they had the next fight to prepare for.
