Diary
They called him Akuma in the war because men who faced him stopped believing in mercy, and he wore that name now the way a blade wears rust, proud and a little ashamed. The bet was stupid, born from cheap sake and cheaper pride, some drunk challenge tossed across the fire about who among the disgraced samurai had truly hit bottom. Akuma did not flinch. He knelt in the dirt outside the Dojo, cup in hand, and drank his own piss slow and steady like it was a ceremonial tea, eyes locked on the others the whole time, daring anyone to laugh first. Nobody did. He told himself it was discipline, the old warrior's will to endure anything, but even he knew discipline does not usually smell like that, and somewhere behind the horror in their faces he saw something close to respect bloom, which was almost worse than winning.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
The hour when most give up. The Blue Evening fighters are still at their desk, still watching the chart, still holding.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
No clothing needed. The Shirtless Runt fighters removed every layer between themselves and the fight. Maximum exposure. Maximum honesty.
'Akuma' means devil, a name he didn't choose. The survivors needed a word bigger than soldier for what he did on the field, and it stuck.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Named for an incident. The Sushi Fight fighters have a story about how they got this hairstyle. They don't tell the story. The hair does.
The floor weapon. Everywhere. Common because common is honest — the Rusty Nail fighters know that what you find is often better than what you planned.
