Diary
They called him Akuma back when the banners still meant something, and he wore the name like a second set of armor, amused that men still flinched at a syllable. At the Fight Pits he found The Degen Scholar mid-sermon on impermanence and dice odds, and Akuma leaned in close enough that death itself seemed to lean with him, testing the old scholar's nerve just to see if the universe still had teeth. It did not bite, and something in that silence cracked him open; he walked out that night swearing off blood for the Buddha, trading his blade's whisper for a mantra's hum. Discipline came easy for exactly four days, incense burning, knees aching, ego politely starved, until a dice game called his name across the Dojo floor and Akuma found himself aped into a bet before his prayer beads hit the ground. He laughs about it now, dark and low, calling himself a monk who kept the robes and lost the vow, a demon still learning that enlightenment does not care about a hot streak.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Neither dark nor white. The Light Grey background belongs to fighters who operate in the space between certainties and have made it comfortable there.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Half the statement. The Skull Sleeve fighters communicate their philosophy in one arm — the other arm is for whatever needs doing next.
'Akuma' means devil, a name he didn't choose. The survivors needed a word bigger than soldier for what he did on the field, and it stuck.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Broad shade, broad vision. The Wide Kasa Fisherman fighters cover more ground with their hat than most cover with their plans.
Found. Not forged. The Large Branch fighters don't wait for the right weapon — they use what's available and are surprised when this needs explanation.
