Masumi earned his favor the way most true things happen, unglamorously, hunched in an alley with grease on his fingers and a fish cake going cold in his other hand, while somewhere a dojo master was probably weeping about what became of the samurai code. He has decided, with the particular certainty of a man who has never once followed through on anything, that he will now open his own dojo, teach discipline, restore honor, the whole tragic script. He knows how this ends. It ends with him aped into some new dojo-themed token for the opening ceremony, the floor dropping the same week the paint dries, and the dojo becoming a place where he alone sits cross-legged eating fish cakes and calling it meditation. Still he draws the plans anyway, because hope, he has noticed, is just despair that hasn't done the math yet. The alley remembers him fondly; the dojo, unbuilt, does not yet have the chance to be disappointed.”
Not contacts. Not paint. Something older. The Shaman Eyes fighters see through the collection at a frequency others can't access, and they've been doing it since before the derug.
Military patience. The Olive Green fighters do not announce themselves. They wait. Then they move.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Soft exterior. The Puppy Kimono fighters discovered that disarming presentation is its own strategy — you stop seeing the threat until it's too late.
'Masumi' means true clarity — and that's exactly his problem. He sees what's actually there, not the comfortable version, which made him priceless in war and unbearable at a party.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
