Diary
They say Junichiro Reborn died once and came back wearing someone else's patience, and maybe that is true, because only a man who has already lost everything could shed his robes over a wicker basket at the Degen Dojo with such serene, cosmic indifference. Onlookers swear the fall happened in slow motion, his topknot unraveling like a prophecy, his dignity aped out from under him in one clean liquidation event. He did not curse. He did not laugh. He simply lay there naked among the scattered basket weed, staring at the ceiling the way a man stares at a floor price that will never come back, and whispered that this too was part of the path. Some nights he still practices his forms in the dark, alone, breathing counted breaths, trying to rebuild the stillness the old masters had, and every single time some invisible basket finds his ankle. He has not forgiven himself, not fully, but he has started calling the scar on his shin a teacher, which either means enlightenment or that he has finally, gently, lost it.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Between midday and dusk. The Orange Afternoon fighters are in the middle of something — not finished, not starting, exactly where they need to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The blue Oni does not rage. The blue Oni waits. The Blue Oni Tattoo fighters are the calmest ones in the room — which makes them the most dangerous.
He walked into something that should have ended him and walked back out with the same name and none of the same conditions. Nobody agrees what happened out there, and he's in no hurry to explain.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Broad shade, broad vision. The Wide Kasa Fisherman fighters cover more ground with their hat than most cover with their plans.
The floor weapon. Everywhere. Common because common is honest — the Rusty Nail fighters know that what you find is often better than what you planned.
