They say Junichiro Reborn died once, quietly, somewhere between the third sake and the fourth regret, and whoever walked out of the bamboo forest that morning wore his face but none of his old certainties. He had gone in to pray, a simple thing, the kind of gesture his ancestors performed without a second thought, and yet the moment his palms touched together his honor curdled like milk left in the sun, as if the ancestors themselves rolled their eyes from whatever ledger tracks these things. He remembers the wind moving through the stalks like a rumor spreading through a village, and he remembers thinking, almost fondly, that a warrior who has to apologize to bamboo for existing has already lost the plot. Now he smiles at strangers with the serenity of a man who has seen his own tombstone and found the epitaph mildly amusing, promising better days ahead while quietly aping into whatever chaos the dojo offers next. Discipline, he figures, is just a rug he keeps stepping on, and he has made peace with the floor.”
Sober, unlike the drunk variant. The Lizard fighters have a companion with excellent judgment who never asks for anything and always seems to know when to leave.
Lived-in color. The Warm Grey background belongs to fighters who have been through enough that their edges have softened without their core changing.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Grew things before they fought things. The Farmer clothing is the clearest record of what a fighter was before the Dojo changed them.
He walked into something that should have ended him and walked back out with the same name and none of the same conditions. Nobody agrees what happened out there, and he's in no hurry to explain.
