Diary
They say a man dies once and is reborn twice if the gods are bored enough to watch, and Junichiro Reborn treats this as fact rather than metaphor, which is why he was crouched at the edge of the Emperor's Palace moat at 3 a.m., blade drawn, calmly informing a group of horrified women that their energy was disrupting his qi. The rat that scurried past never stood a chance, not against a man who once cut down real warriors with the same tranquil half-smile he wore while driving a tantō through vermin and shattering the sacred hush of the palace grounds with language that would make a sailor blush. He apologized to no one, because in his mythology this was not chaos but destiny fulfilling itself in the wrong font, and he has already decided the incident will make a riveting opening chapter titled The Night I Remembered I Was a Blade. He swears he will finish the manuscript by New Year, right after this next bottle of shochu, right after one more spliff to steady the trembling hand that once held perfect form, right after he figures out why the rat still visits him in dreams asking for its name back. Discipline, he tells everyone with serene confidence, is simply a rough draft he keeps rewriting, and somewhere beneath the calm there is a real samurai still waiting patiently for the edit to stick.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Red moon, heightened stakes. The Red High Moon backgrounds mark the moments when everything was on the line and the fighter stayed.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
After the rice was used. The Rice Sack Rags fighters wear what remains after everything useful has been extracted — and find it sufficient.
He walked into something that should have ended him and walked back out with the same name and none of the same conditions. Nobody agrees what happened out there, and he's in no hurry to explain.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Ceremony interrupted. The Disheveled Geisha fighters started something formal and ended something entirely different.
The floor weapon. Everywhere. Common because common is honest — the Rusty Nail fighters know that what you find is often better than what you planned.
