They say Junichiro Reborn died once and came back with better patience and worse decision-making, and the ink on his forearms is the receipt. It happened after a long, echoing conversation with Bob in the dojo latrines, the kind of talk that starts as small talk and ends with a stranger's needle and a design that was supposed to be a dragon but now resembles a confused koi having an existential crisis. He did not flinch when the artist admitted, halfway through, that he'd only ever practiced on melons. Junichiro simply closed his eyes, breathed the way his old sensei taught him before a killing blow, and let fate write its clumsy calligraphy across his skin, because a man who has already lost everything once finds it strangely easy to lose a little dignity twice.
