Diary
They say Junichiro died once, briefly, and came back wearing his own face like a borrowed mask, which is why he tells the noodle house story with the detachment of a man reading someone else's obituary. He'd let slip a rumor over broth at the little shop near Gion, some idle poison about a rival's debts, and watched his good name curdle in the steam before he'd even finished slurping. The old monks would call it karma; Junichiro calls it 'season one lore' and insists reputation is just a token he got rugged on, waiting to reprice. Now he meditates for exactly four minutes before caving to gossip about the gossip about himself, smiling that unsettling half-smile, certain that discipline, like death, is just something he's already survived once and can therefore fail at indefinitely. He bows to the noodle shop owner every morning now, overpaying slightly, as if tipping his way back into the karma pool one soggy bill at a time.”
Without the gold. The Jesuit Crosses fighters have the same conviction but carry it lighter — the weight is in the belief, not the metal.
Bright but not loud. The Teal Daytime fighters are the ones you underestimate because they don't announce their arrival.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Sovereignty in fabric form. The Queeny Chic fighters dress with authority that was never granted by anyone else and therefore can't be revoked.
He walked into something that should have ended him and walked back out with the same name and none of the same conditions. Nobody agrees what happened out there, and he's in no hurry to explain.
Formal vision. The Spectacles fighters approached clarity with the same seriousness they bring to everything else — completely.
Aged. Sharp. The Short Spiky Grey fighters have been here long enough for color to leave — and found that what remained is more pointed than before.
Implies infirmity, delivers otherwise. The Wooden Walking Cane fighters move slower than expected and hit harder than prepared for.
