Diary
They say Junichiro Reborn died once already, in the smoky back rooms of a gambling house where he dressed as a woman to fleece drunk lords out of their coin, and somewhere between the losing hand and the shame he lost his integrity along with his last ryo. He drew the short blade to commit seppuku, sat down proper, breathed the old samurai breath, and then, in that unsettling calm of his, simply changed his mind and decided dying was too permanent a floor to sell at. Now he walks around introducing himself as a man who has already killed himself once, which makes every threat sound like a punchline and every punchline sound like a threat. He still tries to reclaim the discipline, sitting in meditation each dawn, and he still folds by noon into another game he swears he can beat this time. The reborn man laughs at his own myth because he knows the joke better than anyone: he came back different, but he came back exactly the same.
Without the gold. The Jesuit Crosses fighters have the same conviction but carry it lighter — the weight is in the belief, not the metal.
Paper screens at night. The Shoji Night fighters were born in the quiet hours, when the market sleeps and only the committed are still at their screens.
He walked into something that should have ended him and walked back out with the same name and none of the same conditions. Nobody agrees what happened out there, and he's in no hurry to explain.
Not quite there yet. The Warlock Wannabe fighters are in the process of becoming something more — and the gap between aspiration and arrival is where they live.
Born from the collection itself. The Degen generation Framed fighters came up through the ranks — they were regular fighters who crossed the threshold and were transformed by it.
Traditional, ornamented. The Shoji Tassel Glasses fighters dress their perception in ceremony — seeing is a ritual for them, not a reflex.
Tied before the fight. The Green Bandana fighters have a ritual of preparation — the bandana is how they mark the transition.
A live chicken. As a weapon. The Chicken fighters have committed to an approach that nobody expected and found that unexpectedness is half the battle.
