Diary
They say Junichiro Reborn died once and came back with better rhythm and worse judgment, and the Darkness Festival gave the whole village proof of both. He stood atop a sake barrel serenading three courtesans with a shamisen he barely knew how to hold, and when the crowd roared he threw his hand up like a rockstar at ATH and snapped a finger clean against a paper lantern pole. He didn't scream. He just smiled that unsettling half smile of a man who has already met death and found it mildly overrated, wrapped the finger in festival streamers, and kept singing off key like the universe owed him this one encore. Seven nights later he still hasn't slept, wired on stale weed smoke and the ghost-hum of the crowd's applause, muttering that discipline is just a rug he keeps forgetting he's standing on. Somewhere his old sensei is rolling in his grave, and somewhere Junichiro is bowing to no one, finger throbbing, myth intact, calling it destiny.
Simple. Carved. Someone made this by hand. The Wooden Loop fighters wear something made, not bought, and consider that a statement worth making.
Bright but not loud. The Teal Daytime fighters are the ones you underestimate because they don't announce their arrival.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Still learning. The Student Gi fighters are the most dangerous in the Dojo — they have no habits yet, no fixed patterns, no ceiling.
He walked into something that should have ended him and walked back out with the same name and none of the same conditions. Nobody agrees what happened out there, and he's in no hurry to explain.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Mastery without ceremony. The Kung Fu Master fighters stopped needing to prove the title long before anyone stopped asking for proof.
Repurposed. Made for the earth, used for the fight. The Farmers Hoe fighters don't distinguish between cultivation and combat.
