Somewhere past midnight, drunk on plum wine and the ghost of a discipline he swore he'd buried, Masumi Steel ripped his kimono off in the street and howled at nothing in particular, like a man rage-quitting his own past. He woke up the next morning bare-chested, half-frozen, and somehow lighter, like the silk had been the only thing weighing his soul to the floor, and he decided right then that he was a good man now, no cap. He still hasn't found that kimono, and honestly he stopped looking around the third week, choosing instead to strut through the dojo shirtless and grinning like he aped into main character energy and it actually paid off. He tells everyone discipline is a mindset now, not a garment, though his idea of meditation is staring at a candle while rolling something that isn't incense. Masumi Steel walks proud, chest out, ronin swagger intact, a good man by his own rugged, self-issued decree, and if you squint he almost looks like he believes it too.
