Diary
Masumi Steel used to own land the size of a small province, back when his word was a bond and his blade meant something, but he floored it all on one reckless flip behind the shoji doors, chips stacked like a man who'd never heard the word rugged. He remembers the paper walls sliding shut on his fief the way some men remember a lover leaving, and still he grins about it, because what else do you do when the house always wins and you were the house's favorite degenerate customer? These days he's got nothing but a busted wakizashi, a joint he swears is for 'ceremonial focus,' and the swagger of a man who insists he's just diversifying his portfolio into vibes. He talks discipline like he still trains at dawn, then naps through it, waking only to bluff his way through another bad hand with the same proud tilt of the chin his ancestors wore into real battle. Ask him if he regrets it and he'll flash that reckless-light smile, shrug, and say the fief was overleveraged anyway, he just took profit early, in liquidation.
Worn deliberately. The Nails fighters made choices with their appearance that most would call unconventional and they would call honest.
Unclear until it clears. The Grey Mist backgrounds belong to fighters who operate where others can't see, and use that fog as their advantage.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Lord's garment worn into battle. The Daimyo Warrior Kimono fighters have authority they didn't ask for and intention they haven't announced.
They called him Steel because nothing moved him — cold face, cold hands, the last man standing while braver fools lost their nerve. In peacetime, steel with nothing to cut just rusts.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Dark nature made structural. The Black Oni Horns fighters grew into something specific and let it show at the top.
Not metaphorical. Someone's leg bone, spiked. The Spiky Femur fighters have been here long enough that the bones of their enemies are now equipment.
