Diary
Masumi Steel used to be the kind of man who smiled at funerals just to see who'd flinch, back when discipline meant something more than a word tattooed crooked on his ribs. Then came the shoji doors, thin as rice paper and twice as honest, where he traded barbs with an enemy Yakuza crew who didn't appreciate his jokes about their tailor. He swears he won that argument, though the paper walls still remember the shape of his face better than his knees do, and he hasn't slept a real sleep in seven days since, running on energy drinks, spite, and the faint hope that exhaustion counts as a training arc. Every night he vows to meditate, to breathe like the old masters, to floor the chaos in his chest, and every night he ends up scrolling degen charts at 4 a.m. grinning like the ronin who never learned when to fold. He tells himself he's fine, he tells the mirror he's fine, and somewhere behind his tired, needling eyes, a samurai who once had discipline just sighs and deals another round.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Lived-in color. The Warm Grey background belongs to fighters who have been through enough that their edges have softened without their core changing.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Wealth made garment. The Money Kimono fighters wear their wins literally — the fabric is a record, not a boast.
They called him Steel because nothing moved him — cold face, cold hands, the last man standing while braver fools lost their nerve. In peacetime, steel with nothing to cut just rusts.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Crow spirit, long nose, ancient power. The Tengu Mask fighters are wearing something that predates the Dojo — something older that chose to be here.
The weighted hook-blade on a rope. Distance and cutting in one weapon. The Heavy Kyoketsu fighters control range — nothing happens at a distance they didn't set.
