Once upon a peak, Masumi Steel was a blade with a plan, climbing Mount Haku with ambition strapped tighter than his topknot, sworn to become the sharpest name in three provinces. Then came the dare, the sake, and the world's worst disguise, and somehow the mightiest swordsman on the mountain spent an entire duel playing a woman to dodge a debt he definitely deserved to pay. The crowd never forgot it, the gossip outlived the snow, and Masumi's legend got rugged harder than a rope-pull rug on a Tuesday. Now he grins through the wreckage, needling every rival who brings it up, swearing this is the season he claws back his name one reckless bet, one half-sober vow of discipline, and one spectacularly broken promise to stop gambling at a time. He still loses that fight nightly, chasing honor between hands of cards, but damn if he doesn't bluff like he's already won it.
Sober, unlike the drunk variant. The Lizard fighters have a companion with excellent judgment who never asks for anything and always seems to know when to leave.
Bright but not loud. The Teal Daytime fighters are the ones you underestimate because they don't announce their arrival.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
They called him Steel because nothing moved him — cold face, cold hands, the last man standing while braver fools lost their nerve. In peacetime, steel with nothing to cut just rusts.
Still wearing them. The Bloodied Glasses fighters need nothing to be clean to keep seeing clearly.
Named for what grew. The Wise Greatness fighters became something across time that couldn't be rushed and didn't try to be.
Heavy, ceramic, purpose-built for one thing and used for another. The Giant Sake Bottle fighters are creative about their arsenal.
