Masumi Steel tells it like a bit, grinning wide enough to hide the flinch: he aped into his own barracks at 3 a.m. to rob a table of half-asleep degens for their last coins, blade drawn purely for theater, and some fool's pet monkey chose that exact second to leap off a shelf like it had a floor to defend. Steel swears the steel moved on its own, samurai reflex twitching through years of gambling-softened muscle, and the little guy never had a chance. He still bows to it some mornings, quietly, before the hangover fully lands, promising discipline, promising better, promising he'll quit robbing his own dojo mates for drinking money by next moon. He hasn't. He just tells the story louder each time, daring you to laugh first so it hurts less, needling the room the way he needled fate that terrible sleepless night.
Sober, unlike the drunk variant. The Lizard fighters have a companion with excellent judgment who never asks for anything and always seems to know when to leave.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
They called him Steel because nothing moved him — cold face, cold hands, the last man standing while braver fools lost their nerve. In peacetime, steel with nothing to cut just rusts.
Fox face. The Kitsune Mask fighters wear the shapeshifter's face — which means every identity is available to them and none is fixed.
The Dojo wrote on it. The Degen Graffiti Rice Hat fighters carry the collection's mark on the highest point of their body.
