Diary
Masumi Steel used to be the cheerful sort of samurai who could win a room with a bow and a joke, the kind of discipline that took years of drills to fake so effortlessly. These days the only drills he runs are pouring sake into empty cups and serenading courtesans right there in his own futon, off-key, half-naked, absolutely certain he's a top-percentile lover despite zero evidence on chain. He grins through the hangovers like they're just another sparring bruise, needling anyone who dares call it a rug on his old bushido dreams. Every morning he swears this is the day he picks the blade back up, meditates, apes into virtue instead of vice, and every night finds him serenading a new courtesan louder than the last, certain, truly certain, that tomorrow he can do better. The floor of his self-respect keeps dropping, but damn if the man doesn't grin the whole way down, bluffing fate like it's a bad hand he can still win.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Still learning. The Student Gi fighters are the most dangerous in the Dojo — they have no habits yet, no fixed patterns, no ceiling.
They called him Steel because nothing moved him — cold face, cold hands, the last man standing while braver fools lost their nerve. In peacetime, steel with nothing to cut just rusts.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Named for the legendary fighter. The Red Heihachi fighters carry that name's weight in every match and find it light.
Repurposed. Made for the earth, used for the fight. The Farmers Hoe fighters don't distinguish between cultivation and combat.
