Masumi Steel used to hold a blade like scripture, back when discipline meant something more than a word tattooed on a promise he broke every winter. Now he holds court outside the Dojo gates at 3 a.m., grinning through chattering teeth, cracking jokes about floors and rugs to whoever's dumb enough to linger in the cold with him, and someone always is. That night it was some poor soul who came out for a smoke and a laugh, stood too close, breathed too deep, and left with more than a hangover, courtesy of Masumi's cough that he swore, hand on heart, was just allergies. The Dojo elders didn't buy the bluff twice, and when a second student came down sick, they finally tossed him out into the snow he'd been living in anyway, no ceremony, no honor, just a door slamming on a man still grinning like he'd won something. He walks off calling it a promotion,
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Hidden in plain sight. The Night Forest fighters do most of their work in the dark — not secretively, but quietly. They don't need an audience.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Grew things before they fought things. The Farmer clothing is the clearest record of what a fighter was before the Dojo changed them.
They called him Steel because nothing moved him — cold face, cold hands, the last man standing while braver fools lost their nerve. In peacetime, steel with nothing to cut just rusts.
Still wearing them. The Bloodied Glasses fighters need nothing to be clean to keep seeing clearly.
Found. Not forged. The Large Branch fighters don't wait for the right weapon — they use what's available and are surprised when this needs explanation.
