Masumi Steel once carried himself like a blade meant for a museum case, all discipline and quiet menace, until the wars ended and left him with nothing to unsheathe but a grin and a bad idea. That bad idea wore the shape of Legless Tom, who proposed, with the confidence of a man who has already lost everything worth losing, that true swordcraft could be brewed rather than trained. So there they sat before the shoji doors, sake cups clacking like dull practice swords, Masumi swearing between rounds that each drink was sharpening his reflexes, honestly, he could feel the tatami vibrating with his own genius. By dawn the paper doors wore three new fist-shaped windows and Masumi had discovered a devastating new technique called falling over sideways with style. He tells people now that he knows better, flashing that same reckless grin, though the empty jug by his futon suggests the lesson is still very much pending review.

Named for the legendary swordsman. The Flowing Battousai fighters carry the name of the fastest draw in the collection's lore — and the hair confirms they take this seriously.
Fermented projectile. The Beer Splash fighters found the most abundant thing in the Dojo and weaponized it.
