Masumi Steel used to be somebody at Mount Koriyoka, back when his blade meant more than his mouth, but these days he's the guy who picks fights with actual samurai just to see if the old codes still bruise. He climbed the mountain claiming he wanted enlightenment, grinning the whole way, and instead found three grim swordsmen guarding a shrine who did not appreciate his running commentary on their posture, their honor, or their haircuts. One word led to another, another led to a shove, and the shove led to Masumi tumbling down a scree slope with his dignity rugged clean off him and his robe torn in places that still make him wince. One tooth. The whole shark is implied. The Shark Tooth fighters don't need to explain what they've overcome — they wear the evidence.
Hidden in plain sight. The Night Forest fighters do most of their work in the dark — not secretively, but quietly. They don't need an audience.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
After the rice was used. The Rice Sack Rags fighters wear what remains after everything useful has been extracted — and find it sufficient.
They called him Steel because nothing moved him — cold face, cold hands, the last man standing while braver fools lost their nerve. In peacetime, steel with nothing to cut just rusts.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Practical. Focused. The Hair Bun fighters pulled back what was in their eyes so they could see the whole board.
