Diary
Masumi Steel used to have a code, a blade, a routine, and somewhere along the way it all got traded for a folding chair, a bag of fish cakes, and unemployment falling from the sky like the universe's cruelest confetti. He'd been eating those cakes when the call came, snow melting into the paper wrapper as his boss's voice crackled through about budget cuts, and Masumi just grinned that dumb grin of his like the punchline was already written. Funny thing is, he misses the poop. Not metaphorically, actually the literal act of scooping it, back when his job was cleaning up after the dojo's stable horses, because at least horse poop had the decency to sit still and not vanish overnight like severance or self control. Now he tells everyone he's
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Red moon, heightened stakes. The Red High Moon backgrounds mark the moments when everything was on the line and the fighter stayed.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Named for what it abandoned. The No Honor Kimono fighters gave up on the codes others follow and found that this freed them completely.
They called him Steel because nothing moved him — cold face, cold hands, the last man standing while braver fools lost their nerve. In peacetime, steel with nothing to cut just rusts.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Floor-mat helmet. The Tatami Kabuto fighters made armor from the training floor itself — they carry the place they trained in wherever they go.
Found. Not forged. The Large Branch fighters don't wait for the right weapon — they use what's available and are surprised when this needs explanation.
