Diary
Before the paddies of his own province called him a menace, Oleg Of War had a name that soldiers whispered before battle, not after last call. Now he wades through mud outside a courtesan house near the rice fields, three of them draped on his arms demanding coin he already gambled away, and when some unlucky stranger opens his mouth to make it worse, Oleg answers with a spit that lands with the precision of a man who once split arrows midair. No apology follows, none was ever loaded in the chamber, because Oleg does not do sorry, he does sequels. He limps home that night, not to meditate on the samurai code he let rot in a drawer, but to scrawl the opening line of the Degen Handbook by candlelight, insisting to no one that discipline chapter comes right after the one on rice paddy warfare and courtesan negotiation tactics. He will finish that chapter eventually, probably after the next bender, definitely after the next spit.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Bright but not loud. The Teal Daytime fighters are the ones you underestimate because they don't announce their arrival.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Explicit in every sense. The Fuck You Kimono fighters made a communication choice and wore it. No ambiguity. No apology.
War in the name and war in the deed. Read the other fighters' stories closely and Oleg keeps turning up — always as the one who ruined the moment, corrupted the innocent, lit the match.
Demon woman, half revealed. The Hannya Half Mask fighters show the monstrous half and keep the human half private.
Wild, electrified. The Zapachi fighters' hair moves independently and the fighter has accepted that this is appropriate.
Organization-issue. The Yakuza Club fighters have backup in the weight of the weapon itself — it carries institutional authority.
