Diary
Oleg Of War does not stumble, he descends, and that is exactly what happened at the noodle house when a basket of pickled radish rose up to meet him like a rug pull he never saw coming. His katana, the last relic of a man who once meditated at dawn instead of aping into whatever chaos smelled like sake and trouble, slipped from his obi and vanished into someone else's grip before his face even hit the floor. He did not chase the thief. He did not apologize to the noodle master, the toppled stools, or the three men he flattened on the way down. Word spread through the Dojo not that Oleg had lost his blade, but that he had lost it with such magnificent, spine chilling indifference that even the thief probably felt honored to be robbing him, and by sundown the older masters were nodding like he'd passed some ancient trial he never signed up for. He still tells himself he'll rebuild the discipline, wake early, meditate, stop drinking before noon, and he still hasn't, but respect, unlike swords, apparently cannot be stolen from a man who never once looked like he wanted it.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Not quite there yet. The Warlock Wannabe fighters are in the process of becoming something more — and the gap between aspiration and arrival is where they live.
War in the name and war in the deed. Read the other fighters' stories closely and Oleg keeps turning up — always as the one who ruined the moment, corrupted the innocent, lit the match.
Still wearing them. The Bloodied Glasses fighters need nothing to be clean to keep seeing clearly.
Tied before the fight. The Green Bandana fighters have a ritual of preparation — the bandana is how they mark the transition.
Fermented projectile. The Beer Splash fighters found the most abundant thing in the Dojo and weaponized it.
