Before the ink faded from the last of his knuckles, One-Eyed Itsuki ran his corner of the Yakuza like a man who trusted only one eye and no one else, and that eye never blinked, not even the night he told a daimyo's wife inside the Dojo that her perfume smelled like a rug pull. The room went quiet the way a floor goes quiet right before it drops to zero, and by morning his crew had scattered like paper lanterns in a typhoon. Now he sits cross-legged in the same Dojo, sipping something that is definitely not sake but definitely helps, vowing to rebuild the discipline he buried under years of extortion, weed, and bad bets on cockfights he swore were rigged in his favor. He meditates for exactly four minutes before his mind wanders to old debts and older grudges, then opens his good eye and mutters that half a clear view of the world still beats a whole blurry one. Ask him if he is a changed man and he will tell you, without irony, that change is just another market he is currently down bad in.
