Diary
One-Eyed Itsuki once tracked bandits across three provinces by the bend of trampled grass alone, and he still moves through the world convinced half his sight is worth two of anyone else's whole vision. That confidence took a beating the night his mistress bolted down the Kyoto backstreets after finding his ape wallet drained on some rugged token, and Itsuki gave chase in nothing but an untied yukata, sandals slapping stone, chest bare and unguarded. By the third alley his nipples were raw and bleeding against the fabric, a wound no dojo ever prepared him for, the kind samurai medicine has no scroll on. He sat afterward on a curb, dabbing himself with a torn sleeve, muttering that a man who once read enemy intentions from a single footprint should've seen a heartbreak coming from a mile off. Still, he squares his one good eye toward tomorrow, swearing this is the week he trades chaos for discipline, though everyone who knows him is already taking bets on how fast that vow gets rugged too.'
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Lived-in color. The Warm Grey background belongs to fighters who have been through enough that their edges have softened without their core changing.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Unglamorous and honest. The Black Peasant Sack fighters didn't dress for anyone else. They dressed for function and found that function is its own statement.
'Itsuki' — a tree, deep roots and one straight trunk. He lost the eye in a story he tells four different ways depending on how much he likes you, and what's left sees more than most manage with two.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Aged. Sharp. The Short Spiky Grey fighters have been here long enough for color to leave — and found that what remained is more pointed than before.
Used and not cleaned. The Bloody Nunchucks fighters are efficient — cleaning was someone else's job and they had the next fight to prepare for.
