Diary
One-Eyed Itsuki never needed two eyes to count coin, which made it sting all the harder when the widows of three different provinces left him with an empty purse and a very specific reputation. He walks into the Dojo the way he walks into everything now, unhurried, half-blind and fully unbothered, like a man who already knows how the story ends and has made peace with the punchline being himself. The elders ask what he seeks, and he says simply that he wants his future back, the way a samurai wants his sword back after pawning it for sake he swears he only sipped. There is a old discipline in him still, the ghost of a warrior who once meditated at dawn, and it flickers awake every time he tries to swear off widows and gambling dens, lasting exactly as long as it takes for a pretty grieving lady or a decent bet to walk by. So he sits cross-legged on the worn floor, one eye closed in thought, the other seeing twice as clearly that the road to ruin was paved by his own hands, and he laughs low and easy, because a man who has lost everything twice has nothing left to fear but himself.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Hidden in plain sight. The Night Forest fighters do most of their work in the dark — not secretively, but quietly. They don't need an audience.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Named for something specific. The Cet Kimono fighters know what they're wearing and why — the rest is for others to figure out.
'Itsuki' — a tree, deep roots and one straight trunk. He lost the eye in a story he tells four different ways depending on how much he likes you, and what's left sees more than most manage with two.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Focus made visible. The Karate Headband fighters bound their intention around their skull so it couldn't escape during the fight.
Not defensive. Offensive. The Floral Parasol fighters weaponized elegance — opponents hesitate before striking something that looks like it shouldn't be there.
