They still tell it near Kyoto that Itsuki dropped a wild boar clean off his horse with one eye shut and the other locked dead on target, favor earned before the beast even hit the dirt. He figures a man who can thread a spear through chaos with half his sight owes it to history to write the memoir himself, so he bought a leather journal, a fountain pen, and immediately let both collect dust next to a bong shaped suspiciously like a boar's tusk. Discipline was easy on horseback, staring down something that wanted to gut him; discipline is harder staring down a blank page while aped into some new token that's already down eighty percent before the ink dries. He tells himself tonight's the night, lights up instead, and writes exactly one sentence:
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
