On the black sands of Enoshima, One-Eyed Itsuki carved through a dozen bandits without wasting a single breath, his remaining eye tracking every twitch of blade and boot like the world owed him double vision as an apology. When the last man dropped, adrenaline loosened his tongue, and he barked some boast about being untouchable, a phrase that has haunted him longer than the fight itself ever did. He tells himself discipline is a floor he refuses to let get rugged, yet every night he pours one more cup of sake to drown the memory of his own mouth running faster than his blade. He meditates each morning, cross-legged and grim, vowing today is the day the drinking stops and the silence returns, then by noon he's aped into a dice game behind the tea house muttering that meditation can wait till tomorrow. Half his sight is gone, but he still sees clean through his own excuses, and that, he figures, is the cruelest clarity of all.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Paper screens at night. The Shoji Night fighters were born in the quiet hours, when the market sleeps and only the committed are still at their screens.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Not quite there yet. The Warlock Wannabe fighters are in the process of becoming something more — and the gap between aspiration and arrival is where they live.
