One-Eyed Itsuki lost the left eye to a war nobody remembers winning, and gained in trade a habit of seeing the truth of a room before anyone else does, which is exactly how he knew the izakaya crowd wasn't going to compliment his form unprompted. So he did what any half-blind ronin with a bruised ego does: he baited the table, bragging about a sword stance he hasn't held sober in years, and when the fishing came up empty he spat, actual spit, onto a stranger who'd made the fatal error of not clapping. The old discipline in him, the part that once bowed before drawing steel, winced from somewhere far away, muffled by three shochu and a floor price he refuses to check. He apologized the way he does everything now, half-committed, one eye already scanning the room for the next audience, because clarity is a curse when you can see exactly how far you've fallen and still choose the bar stool over the dojo. Steady hands, rotten timing, that's the whole scroll on him.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Neither dark nor white. The Light Grey background belongs to fighters who operate in the space between certainties and have made it comfortable there.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
No fixed allegiance. The Mercenary fighters fight for whoever offers the right terms and have never lost a battle when those terms were met.
'Itsuki' — a tree, deep roots and one straight trunk. He lost the eye in a story he tells four different ways depending on how much he likes you, and what's left sees more than most manage with two.
Authority through opacity. The Dark Spectacles fighters reveal nothing through their eyes and receive everything through them.
Wild, electrified. The Zapachi fighters' hair moves independently and the fighter has accepted that this is appropriate.
Implies infirmity, delivers otherwise. The Wooden Walking Cane fighters move slower than expected and hit harder than prepared for.
