Before the eye was lost, Itsuki was a name spoken with a small bow attached, a swordsman whose discipline was the stuff dojo elders used to shame lazy students. Then the wars ended, the moon rose fat and high over some forgettable teahouse, and something happened that night that took his left eye and, by his own account, most of his shame along with it. He tells it the same way every time, flat as a stone skipped across water, offering no more detail than the moon offered light, and anyone hoping for outrage leaves disappointed. These days he meditates every morning with real intent, candle lit, spine straight, right up until the second joint gets passed his way and the incense turns into something with a much stronger kick. He still sees more with one eye than most men do with two, and when asked if he regrets that high moon evening he just shrugs, because regret, like depth perception, is something he decided long ago he didn't need both eyes for.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Military patience. The Olive Green fighters do not announce themselves. They wait. Then they move.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The organization runs deep. The Yakuza Tattoo Sleeve fighters have commitments that predated the Dojo and will outlast it.
'Itsuki' — a tree, deep roots and one straight trunk. He lost the eye in a story he tells four different ways depending on how much he likes you, and what's left sees more than most manage with two.
Still wearing them. The Bloodied Glasses fighters need nothing to be clean to keep seeing clearly.
In motion even when still. The Wavy fighters are always already moving — the hair is just the most visible evidence.
A rat. Named. With opinions. Mr. Rumi The Rat is a familiar, a co-combatant, and probably the one with the plan. The fighter is the muscle.
