Diary
One-Eyed Itsuki always said he only needed one good eye to see twice as much as any fool with two, but the Meiji Jungle has a way of humbling even the sharpest half-vision. He aped his entire savings into a dice pit tucked behind the bamboo, watched it evaporate in the time it takes to blink the eye he still has, and then said something so rash to the dealer that the whole jungle went quiet for a beat. Old habits from the dojo whispered that a true blade never speaks before it thinks, but that discipline got left on some forgotten battlefield along with his other eye. Now he sits by the fire turning a chipped coin between his fingers, muttering about what could have been if he had just walked away, though everyone at the Dojo knows he will wander right back into that jungle the moment the itch returns. Steady hands, sharp tongue, terrible impulse control, that is the whole man in one clean cut.”
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Unclear until it clears. The Grey Mist backgrounds belong to fighters who operate where others can't see, and use that fog as their advantage.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The red Oni rages where the blue Oni waits. The Red Oni Tattoo fighters run hot and they are at peace with this.
'Itsuki' — a tree, deep roots and one straight trunk. He lost the eye in a story he tells four different ways depending on how much he likes you, and what's left sees more than most manage with two.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Practical and armed. The Hair Bun With Chopsticks fighters put utensils in their hair and call it hair care — the dual function is not accidental.
The poisonous pufferfish as a weapon. The Frightened Fugu fighters chose something lethal that looks absurd — and find that this is the most accurate description of themselves.
