Rin had set four alarms, laid out a contingency plan for three separate emergencies, and still somehow ended up passed out beside Tokuda in the shaman's lair, buried under a mountain of half-eaten mochi and the ashy husk of a blunt that had long since gone cold. In his old life he would have heard a single footstep from a li away, would have woken at the mere thought of danger, but the notification that actually ended him was a calendar reminder he'd silenced three days prior because it was, quote,
