Diary
Stresshead Rin had triple checked the exits, memorized the guards' shift rotations, and packed six contingency plans before he ever set foot near the Emperor's Palace, because a former samurai does not simply improvise a robbery on degens without a laminated checklist. Naturally the one variable he forgot to prep for was a stray katana swing that opened his shirt and took his left nipple clean off, and naturally his body responded not with panic but with something uncomfortably close to arousal, which he has spent every night since trying to explain away as adrenaline. He tells himself this is fine, that a man who once stood sentry through three sieges without blinking can handle a little nipple related trauma, yet he still checks the wound bandage four times before bed like it might rob him back. The discipline he trained his whole life for has nowhere to go now except into obsessively guarding a chest wound that has already healed, and some small tragic part of him almost misses the danger that made him feel something at all. Rin knows the Dojo laughs about it behind his back, and honestly, so does he, mostly out of sheer nervous energy he can no longer aim at anything real.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Neither dark nor white. The Light Grey background belongs to fighters who operate in the space between certainties and have made it comfortable there.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
It's been that kind of day. The Bloody Mess clothing doesn't mean the fighter lost — it means they were in it deep enough that cleanliness became irrelevant.
The one the captain trusted with the plan — he mapped every ravine, counted every arrow, rationed rice to the grain so his squad would live. Now he plans everything and controls nothing.
Precious material on the most important tool. The Golden Glasses fighters invested in how they see — and the investment shows.
The tiger, bound. The Tiger Headband Ruffian fighters contain something predatory with a strip of cloth and consider this sufficient.
Implies infirmity, delivers otherwise. The Wooden Walking Cane fighters move slower than expected and hit harder than prepared for.
