Diary
Rin climbed Misty Mountain with a checklist longer than his old dojo's scrolls, certain that impersonating his superior for one measly supply run would end in seppuku, exile, or at minimum a strongly worded memo. He'd rehearsed the voice, the walk, even the specific grunt his superior used when unimpressed, all while his palms sweated through the borrowed armor and his brain ran forty simultaneous worst-case simulations involving avalanches, spies, and disappointed ancestors. The merchant at the summit, unbothered by any of it, simply handed over a small damp pouch of mushrooms and told him to relax, a suggestion Rin treated as a threat. Somewhere between the fake authority and the real paranoia he became, against every intention, a true degen, vigilance with nowhere left to aim except inward, at himself, forever. He still keeps the receipt, just in case someone asks for it during an audit that will never happen.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Lived-in color. The Warm Grey background belongs to fighters who have been through enough that their edges have softened without their core changing.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Wealth made garment. The Money Kimono fighters wear their wins literally — the fabric is a record, not a boast.
The one the captain trusted with the plan — he mapped every ravine, counted every arrow, rationed rice to the grain so his squad would live. Now he plans everything and controls nothing.
Carried more than worn. The Pocket Glasses fighters have perfect vision when they choose to apply it — the rest of the time, they let instinct run.
Architecture on the scalp. Each knot a decision. The Black Bantu Knots fighters make their choices visible at the top, where everyone can see.
Found. Not forged. The Large Branch fighters don't wait for the right weapon — they use what's available and are surprised when this needs explanation.
