Diary
Rin had trained for ambushes, poison, betrayal, every catastrophe a war could invent, but nothing in his old dojo scrolls prepared him for the garden dice-ring behind the tea house, where he sat clutching his last coins like a man defusing a bomb. He lost the savings hand by hand, checking his exits three times per round, whispering worst-case scenarios to no one, and somewhere between the fourth bad bet and the fifth panic-sweat he locked eyes with a pig snuffling contentedly through the mud, utterly unbothered by ruin. Something in Rin, some tight coiled spring that used to be discipline, finally exhaled, and he decided the pig understood risk management better than he ever had. He has since retired from gambling, from swords, from vigilance itself, though he still triple-checks the pig's pen at night, certain that peace is just another ambush waiting to happen. Rin calls it retirement; everyone else calls it the day the anxiety finally found something worth guarding.
Decorative. Traditional. The Tassel fighters know that ornament and function are not opposites — presentation is part of performance.
Lived-in color. The Warm Grey background belongs to fighters who have been through enough that their edges have softened without their core changing.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The Dojo itself, worn. Whoever puts on the Degen Dojo Kimono becomes part of the institution — and the institution becomes part of them.
The one the captain trusted with the plan — he mapped every ravine, counted every arrow, rationed rice to the grain so his squad would live. Now he plans everything and controls nothing.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Dark nature made structural. The Black Oni Horns fighters grew into something specific and let it show at the top.
Repurposed. Made for the earth, used for the fight. The Farmers Hoe fighters don't distinguish between cultivation and combat.
