Diary
Rin had drawn up a whole security plan for the walk up Fushimi Inari, contingency routes past every torii gate mapped out like he was defusing a bomb instead of visiting a shrine, and still somehow ended up bloodying his knuckles laughing with Haru against a stone lantern at two in the morning. He tells people now it was an accident, a stumble, a misread step, but the truth is he threw the punch himself, giddy and unguarded for one reckless minute, and the shock of feeling good undid him worse than any ambush could. As a samurai he never let his guard down for a heartbeat; as a degen he checks his portfolio, his snacks, his exits, his exits' exits, vigilance with nothing left to actually guard. He swears he is done with all that now, chasing a quieter life of tea and ledgers and early nights, and he genuinely believes this every single morning for about eleven minutes. Then some chart dips red or Haru texts a bad idea with three exclamation points, and Rin is back at the shrine gates in his head, fists up, heart hammering, mourning his discipline while already reaching for his shoes.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Neither dark nor white. The Light Grey background belongs to fighters who operate in the space between certainties and have made it comfortable there.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Grew things before they fought things. The Farmer clothing is the clearest record of what a fighter was before the Dojo changed them.
The one the captain trusted with the plan — he mapped every ravine, counted every arrow, rationed rice to the grain so his squad would live. Now he plans everything and controls nothing.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Color and structure combined. The Orange Bantu Knots fighters make their warmth architectural.
Found. Not forged. The Large Branch fighters don't wait for the right weapon — they use what's available and are surprised when this needs explanation.
