Stresshead Rin had prepared for ambushes, poison, drought, and dishonorable seppuku etiquette, but nobody's scrolls ever covered what to do when the water skins run dry and a monkey starts eyeing your last rice ball like it's a contested inheritance. So on that punishing afternoon, sweat-blind and stubborn, he did what any hydration-optimizing former samurai would do: recycled his own urine like a sacred ritual, muttering survival stats under his breath, and when the monkey lunged he stabbed first and catastrophized later. He tells himself it was tactical. It was not tactical. Now he sits cross-legged in the shade, quill trembling with the same vigilance that once guarded castle gates, drafting the Degen Handbook chapter by chapter, rules for floor-checking, rules for not aping into rugged tokens, rules for never again drinking his own hydration solution no matter how thirsty the road gets. He will fail at least one of these rules by sundown, and some anxious, disciplined part of him already knows it.
Worn deliberately. The Nails fighters made choices with their appearance that most would call unconventional and they would call honest.
Hidden in plain sight. The Night Forest fighters do most of their work in the dark — not secretively, but quietly. They don't need an audience.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Minimum. Clean. The Fight Gi fighters believe that preparation is visible in the garment — this one says the fighter has done this before.
The one the captain trusted with the plan — he mapped every ravine, counted every arrow, rationed rice to the grain so his squad would live. Now he plans everything and controls nothing.
Still functional. Functionally broken. The Broken Glasses fighters see a cracked version of reality and have found it more honest than the uncracked one.
Floor-mat helmet. The Tatami Kabuto fighters made armor from the training floor itself — they carry the place they trained in wherever they go.
