Diary
Rin had drilled seventeen contingency plans for ambush, poison, betrayal, and rogue seagulls, but none of his old dojo scrolls warned him about the patch of grass outside the 7-Eleven that seemed to hum with bad energy. He crouched there for a full hour, vigilant as ever, convinced the blades were some enemy clan's genjutsu, only to later learn it was just very potent, very illegal weed someone had dropped mid-deal. Naturally he caught something, some unholy degen flu that made his eye twitch worse than usual, and he spent the next three days journaling his symptoms like a man preparing testimony for a war crimes tribunal. His old sensei would have wept to see a warrior once trained for a thousand-year siege now defeated by ditch weed and bad luck, but Rin, wheezing, feverish, and strangely at peace for once, declared to no one in particular that he regretted nothing, this was the most excitement his nervous system had felt in years. Discipline, he muttered between coughs, could wait until after the fever broke, or possibly the one after that.'
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Hidden in plain sight. The Night Forest fighters do most of their work in the dark — not secretively, but quietly. They don't need an audience.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Sovereignty in fabric form. The Queeny Chic fighters dress with authority that was never granted by anyone else and therefore can't be revoked.
The one the captain trusted with the plan — he mapped every ravine, counted every arrow, rationed rice to the grain so his squad would live. Now he plans everything and controls nothing.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Ceremony interrupted. The Disheveled Geisha fighters started something formal and ended something entirely different.
