Diary
Stresshead Rin used to lie awake in guard towers listening for footsteps that never came, blade across his knees, ready for a war that had already ended without telling him. Now his vigilance has nowhere honorable to go, so it curdles into sweating over dice cups at the Edo palace, where he lost a bet and, in a panic of over-preparedness for a catastrophe that wasn't even happening yet, blurted out three secrets he'd been guarding since the Genroku era just to fill the silence before someone else could fill it worse. He replayed the moment forty times before dawn, certain the whole court was already forging blackmail letters about his gambling debts and his crush on the tea merchant's daughter. So he has vowed, loudly, to several unimpressed pigeons, to become a better man, more disciplined, more silent, a vault with legs. By breakfast he had already whispered the vow to four different people, annotated with footnotes, because apparently even his self-improvement needs a witness and a worst-case contingency plan.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Unclear until it clears. The Grey Mist backgrounds belong to fighters who operate where others can't see, and use that fog as their advantage.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Blade pattern. The Katana Kimono fighters understand that what you wear signals what you expect — and they expect a fight.
The one the captain trusted with the plan — he mapped every ravine, counted every arrow, rationed rice to the grain so his squad would live. Now he plans everything and controls nothing.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
After. The Messy fighters' hair tells you what happened — not what they planned, but what they went through.
A live chicken. As a weapon. The Chicken fighters have committed to an approach that nobody expected and found that unexpectedness is half the battle.
