Diary
Tokuda once commanded ranks with a single roar, and some ember of that voice still lives in his throat long after the wars went quiet. On sparring day he watched the elders getting bodied by younger fighters and, discipline flaring up like a dying match, he aped his entire treasury into an "insurance fund" for their bruises, a scheme that rugged him harder than any blade ever had. He stood over the wreckage of his own wallet, floor at zero, and bellowed "VICTORY!" into the empty dojo, because a battle cry doesn't care whether there's a war left to win. Broke, half baked on the last of his stash, he now shouts katas at bewildered strangers who only wanted a quiet walk, insisting at top volume that discipline is "definitely" making a comeback this quarter. Nobody believes him, least of all himself, but he will announce his own redemption at full roar until it comes true or somebody calls the guard to shut him up.
Worn as trophy or warning — nobody is quite sure which. The Chicken Bones fighters have a ceremony for everything and share it with no one.
The hour when most give up. The Blue Evening fighters are still at their desk, still watching the chart, still holding.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The Dojo itself, worn. Whoever puts on the Degen Dojo Kimono becomes part of the institution — and the institution becomes part of them.
The battle-cry made flesh — his roar once turned breaking lines around. Now he barks the same orders across a crooked gambling table, losing quietly to himself in the loudest way possible.
Still wearing them. The Bloodied Glasses fighters need nothing to be clean to keep seeing clearly.
Practical. Focused. The Hair Bun fighters pulled back what was in their eyes so they could see the whole board.
Found. Not forged. The Large Branch fighters don't wait for the right weapon — they use what's available and are surprised when this needs explanation.
